This training focuses on the key areas of case management which are supported by evidence-based best practices. Focus areas include client engagement, building the transition from homelessness to being housed, harm reduction, wellness & and recovery, identifying burn-out, and, most importantly, practicing self-care. These three training, you must attend all three days.

SNAP & Medicaid

This training lasts 4 hours and covers both SNAP & Medicaid in two parts while providing a brief history of the Food Stamp Program, the application process, Able-Bodied Adults Without Dependents (ABAWDs) and General Population, SNAP Employment & Training Program (SNAP EBT), participation requirements, services available, non-compliance, and Good Cause.

This training will also cover medical programs available to low-income citizens of Texas, as well as children’s programs, adult programs, and medical programs specifically for women’s health and insurance premiums.

Chronicity

This training is for shelter workers, outreach workers, and housing case managers and covers how to document homelessness to prove chronicity. We cover third-party letters, self-affidavits, verification of disability, and the Chronic List Cohort.

De-Escalation

If you often encounter clients who have experienced trauma and need practical tools to de-escalate the client verbally, then this training is for you. This de-escalation training will provide short-term interventions to help you manage stressful situations more healthily for your client and your organization.

Housing Assessment Tool (HAT)

The Housing Assessment Tool (HAT) training will cover why the CoC moved away from the VI-SPDATv2, why it is an effective tool, and best practices for usage and provide an opportunity for attendees to conduct mock assessments with support from the trainer.

CAS/Warehouse Best Practices

The training will cover CAS workflow from match creation to housing; this includes case managers’ responsibilities when interacting with housing matches. Additionally, best practices when using the Warehouse will be covered, including linking the importance of the Warehouse and ETO as they relate to housing matches in CAS.

Landlord Engagement Tenant Readiness

This tenant education training is for our housed clients or clients with a housing match.
This training will cover topics like how to be a good neighbor, managing your relationship with your landlord, tenant responsibilities for maintaining your unit, When to submit maintenance requests, and other tenant and best practices.

This course has a small capacity size with a max of 15 participants.
